Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL)

AMDAL/Analisis Mengenai Dampak Lingkungan stands for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which is a study conducted to evaluate the significant impacts of a business or activity on the environment. An AMDALis carried out before a business plan or activity is implemented, in order to predict its potential effects on the environment, public health, and society. The process aims to ensure that negative impacts are minimized while positive impacts are maximized in every planned project.

Buildings with a total floor area of 10,000 m² or more are required to have an Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL).

Requirements for Preparing AMDAL

  • Copy of the company’s deed of establishment and its amendments.
  • Copy of land certificate.
  • Copy of TKPRD from the Spatial Planning Office.
  • Copy/soft copy of the master plan from the Spatial Planning Office.
  • Architectural and structural drawings (soft copy/hard copy).
  • Planning report book (Mechanical/Electrical).
  • Soil investigation report.
  • Perspective drawings of the building (in color).
  • Construction/implementation schedule.
  • Project organizational structure.
  • Technical approval for wastewater quality standards.
  • Technical approval for hazardous waste (B3).
  • Technical approval for emission quality standards.
  • Technical approval for traffic impact analysis (Andalalin).

AMDAL Preparation Process

  1. Screening – to determine whether a proposed business/activity requires an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). 
  2. Public Announcement through mass media.
  3. Public Consultation.
  4. Preparation and Approval of Terms of Reference (KA-ANDAL).
  5. Preparation and Approval of Environmental Management Plan (RKL) and Environmental Monitoring Plan (RPL).
  6. Environmental Approval.
  7. Approval and Endorsement of Traffic Impact Analysis (Andalalin) – applicable for district/city roads.
  8. Preparation of Hazardous Waste Technical Approval (IPL-B3).
  9. Preparation and Validation of Emission Technical Approval.
  10. Preparation and Validation of Wastewater Technical Approval.
